About
Terry Deary is an award-winning British children's author. Having created over 200 books like Horrible Histories, selling over 25 million copies in over 40 languages, he is back with a new original comedy!
Based on a true story centred around a man called Mr Pimm. He was appointed to organise York's ragged school. Think of Mr Pimm less of a teacher, more of a child-catcher! Based at Bedern Hall, this school was an orphanage and workhouse combined known as the 'York Industrial Ragged School'. The setting for our show.
Watch how Mr Pimm battles against all odds to teach his pesky pupils a thing or two with hilarious consequences in the quest to discover, 'can the past tell the future?' Full of unexpected highs and lows, quick costume changes and sharp wit, enjoy these twisted tales of times gone by in one wild whirlwind that will leave you rolling around with laughter!
See if you think you would have what it takes to survive the Black Death, join a peasant revolt, meet a scary baby farmer and lots more! Watch as three actors take on around 100 roles in as many minutes. This educational and entertaining show explores British history from the Plantagenets through to the Victorians in one wild ride. This journey focuses less on nobles and more on the complex and exciting ordinary person. The true heroes of history are not the conquering kings, the winning warriors or the empire builders. They are the peasant.

Work together!
Why not share the experience with another school?
We aim to balance the welfare of our performers with the economic pressures schools face. If you team up with another local school, we will split the cost of the shows evenly. Each school gets a competitive price whilst ensuring our team is appropriately cared for.
We have two clauses to be aware of in this scenario:
-
The shows must take place on the same day. For example, on 25th June a performance will take place in the morning at School A. Then, a show will take place in the afternoon at School B.
-
Each school needs to be within 5 miles of each other. Should the distance be greater than 5 miles, we will consider the situation and decide on a case-by-case basis.
This would cost each school £1117.50 plus VAT for one show. A saving of £670.50 plus VAT compared to ordering a single performance independently.
How is that possible? We can make transport and accommodation efficiencies by having the shows take place on the same day. There is a negligible difference between the cost of having two shows at one school on the same day and one show at two schools on the same day (as long as the schools are not too far apart). We create a cost-efficiency that benefits all parties.
No doubt you have questions. We are here to help. We are also here to support and facilitate the arrangement between us. Reach out to discuss your ideas, and let's work together. Together everyone achieves more.
